De Autoriteit is a Dutch-language band influenced by hip-hop, reggae, funk, and rock. They stand out primarily for the brilliant lyrics of frontman Danny Dio. Expect a sensitive ballad about public urination, hard-hitting gangster rap about mosquitoes, and a saga about a man whose life becomes a living hell after a game of street football. Anyone who’s seen them live already knows: they’re perhaps the most fun hip-hop act in the Low Countries. Last summer, they played several festivals, but they’re just as happy playing live in people’s living rooms. Sometimes uninvited. Their latest single, “Augurken” (Augurken), recently released on Spotify.
