Omar Hayat is a Grand Maalem Maestro in the world of Gnawa music, known for his profound, healing sounds that transcend both sound and spirit. His performances, featuring the traditional bass guembri, are highly spiritual and visually symbolic. Omar, who remains modest and down-to-earth in his hometown of Essaouira, is a guardian of the Gnawa tradition and a mentor to new artists. His music combines tradition with innovation, inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Nass El Ghiwane, and he has performed at international festivals and collaborated with renowned musicians.
