NERF HERDER

30 Years of Golfshirt

Tuesday 2 June 2026

Nerf Herder, pioneers of late ’90s pop-punk and geek rock, are coming to the Kleine Zaal on June 2, 2026! They may be best known as that band from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Nerf Herder were signed to Arista Records in 1996 after their ironic ode Van Halen stormed the Modern Rock charts. The video for the follow-up single Sorry then became a regular hit on MTV. The clip features Mark Hamill and Miguel Ferrer, a playful nod to Star Wars, which, given the band’s name, was to be expected.

This year, the band is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album with a special European tour, featuring classic material. In honor of this anniversary, a new acoustic version of the debut album has been recorded by founders Steve Sherlock and Parry Gripp, together with long-time members Ben Pringle and Linus Dotson. It will be available on vinyl at the shows.

Antillectual

Antillectueel grew up with skatepunk from the ’90s, emo from the 2000s, and orgcore from the ’10s. A philosophical, powerful, and infectious atmosphere, with influences from outside the punk rock world, such as the DIY politics of Crass, the authenticity of Hüsker Dü, and the guitar acrobatics of Van Halen.

Angry Youth Elite

With their debut, the band from the Ruhr area catapulted themselves straight into the premier league of the European undergorund skate punk scene. Instead of profiless pop-punk and nonsense lyrics, there are politically charged hardcore edges like Good Riddance, the positive refusal attitude of early Pennywise and multi-throated singalongs à la Millencolin. An awareness of their roots from the 70s hovers over everything, which extends to a short but concise reggae interjection.

Angry Youth Elite have always proven that this mixture also works perfectly live. Whether in the club, at festivals or together with the heroes of youth (including Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, No Fun At All, Pulley) – grinning faces and sweaty band shirts are left behind every time.
