Mobilhome presents the debut album That Tough Tender, an initiative by Brussels-based pianist and composer Camille-Alban Spreng. From the somewhat kitschy phrase “music is where your home is”, the band explores the boundaries between subtlety and chaos, drawing eagerly from a wide range of traditions such as krautrock, post-punk, and improvised music.
By combining electronic ambient improvisations, deep and raw distorted riffs, and an imagined bel canto vocal style, the eleven-track album seeks to translate that strange feeling that arises when you try to retell or write down a dream.
Camille-Alban himself likes to describe the project as an avant-garde jazz band for lovers of birdsong. Mobilhome consists of some of the most influential young musicians on the Belgian scene.
