With their debut single Break It Up, their long career began. In 1988, at the request of director Dick Maas, they wrote the successful title track for the film Amsterdamned. The band received a Zilveren Harp for the hits My Best Friend and It’s The First Time. In the early ’90s, their second album Fortune Fairytales was released, featuring the title track and the single I Wanna Be, whose music video caught the attention of Prince, who invited them to be the opening act for his European Nude tour in 1990.
On their third album, the collaboration with Prince was evident in the singles “Sex” and “Qualified”, both accompanied by sleek music videos. In 1995, their new album Fireflight was released, which included the hit Tonight. Shortly after, the album Covers appeared, a collection of hit singles and the original track Simply Beautiful. In 2000, Hear Me Out was released, followed by the single When I’m With You, during which Loïs Lane went on a very successful Marlboro Flashback tour, covering ABBA hits. The sisters were also part of the female band Girls Wanna Have Fun for many years.
In 2005, Loïs Lane celebrated their 20th anniversary with a series of concerts, during which Monique Klemann briefly focused on her solo career.
After a DVD release with their 15 music videos and a Christmas single, they participated as a band in the music program The Winner Is in 2012. New work appeared on the album As One, which also featured Monique’s daughter, Merel. After a few years of relative silence, they celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2021 with a club tour.
