KRUIDKOEK & JOOST OOMEN

Saturday 17 October 2026

Kruidkoek & Joost Oomen deliver a unique blend of punk jazz, poetry, and everything else you could possibly imagine to dance to. The four members of Kruidkoek—all highly skilled musicians who play in bands like DeWolff, De Niemanders, and Broken Brass—form a solid foundation over which Joost Oomen whips the audience into a frenzy with his loud, ironic poetry, influenced by Dada, Ginsberg, and John Cooper Clarke. The result? A dance party where people throw oranges at a gong, pelt each other with bananas, and scream “Zaag, pudding, pudding, zaag” at full volume (but never louder than Joost). A Dutch, stranger, and happier version of British counterparts Antony Szmierek and Kae Tempest. Audiences already got a sneak peek at Explore the North Festival 2025 and Noorderslag 2026, and now they’re going on tour with this show!

The members of Kruidkoek formed their band in 2012 at the conservatory in Zwolle. They toured to Cairo and Berlin and participated in the Popronde, performing in nearly every Dutch city. Both as a group and individually, they are well-known figures in the Dutch jazz scene.
Joost Oomen began his poetry career in Groningen, specifically at the famous VERA venue, and has performed his poetry—with or without music—from Cape Town to Paris and at festivals such as Lowlands, Into the Great Wide Open, and Oerol. Nearly ten thousand copies of his most recent poetry collection were sold.
In 2025, Kruidkoek and Joost Oomen embarked on their second tour together and performed for approximately 20,000 people.
