FILMS THAT MAKE NOISE – RAVING IRAN

In collaboration with Movies that Matter

Friday 20 February 2026

Raving Iran is a powerful documentary by director Susanne Regina Meures. Arash and Anoosh dream of a career as techno DJs, but in Iran this is virtually impossible. Instead, they perform at illegal parties and try to sell their album “under the counter” in record stores. After an arrest, their dreams of the future seem to fade, but an invitation to perform at a major dance festival in Switzerland suddenly opens up new opportunities.

After the screening, moderator Jesse Evers will lead a discussion with the audience and Kourosh.
This screening will take place at GR8.

  • Kourosh

    Producer, rapper, and vocalis

Kourosh is an Iranian-Dutch producer, rapper, and vocalist whose music fuses hip hop, pop,
electronic, rock, punk-rap, drum and bass, and UKG—blending English and occasional Farsi
lyrics into a sound that’s uniquely his. Gritty and underground at heart, his style still
resonates with a broad and growing audience. His work often reflects a strong sense of
social and political awareness, woven naturally into both his music and artistic vision. Vertaal

  • Jesse Evers

    Moderator, musician and advisor

Jesse Evers moves between policy and poetry. As a musician with Meyendel, he sings about what grates and unsettles; as a consultant at TwynstraGudde, he helps governments avoid losing — or regain — the trust of their citizens. He previously taught Conflict Studies at the University of Amsterdam and studied at Sciences Po in Paris, focusing on African Studies and international cooperation. Always curious about the power of communities in times of major social change.

Films that Make Noise is a film series in collaboration with Movies that Matter and part of the activist program line PUSH.
PUSH is the new umbrella under which PAARD brings together its socially engaged, critical, progressive and politically committed programming. As the leading pop venue in the city of power, politics, peace, (war) justice and protest — just a few hundred meters from the Binnenhof — PUSH provides the soundtrack to social change. Movies that Matter uses film to make human rights and social justice visible and open for discussion.
