How often do you get to see two giants of Dutch jazz perform together? This duo show by drummer Han Bennink (1942) and saxophonist Hans Dulfer (1940) offers such a rare opportunity. Last year they released the vinyl album The New, New Acoustic Swing Duo, a live concert from 2023 paired with a long-lost recording from 1979 on the B-side. Two electrifying performances that proved their vitality hadn’t diminished one bit over the decades in between. The same will undoubtedly be true this time. Saxophonist Hans Dulfer has always had a nose for new trends. He also found great success in Japan with his hit album Big Boy but always remained a full-blooded jazz musician. Drummer and visual artist Han Bennink is another legendary free spirit. He could swing endlessly (including with Sonny Rollins) but also became a giant in free jazz and instant composing. Together, this duo delivers theater, excitement, humor… and deeply sincere jazz.
