What is BJND? A non-standard hip hop duo from The Hague. The beats? Not standard: live drums with productions that dance between shredding synths and very chill mellow vibes. The vocals? Not standard: funny but also emotional, narrative but also swaggy, rapped but also sung.

Come to the release of BJND’s album Paarse Licht at the Paardcafé on October 2. If you’re tired of standard acts making standard music from a standard genre, this is the place to be.

Damion (D), known from the band F, has his roots in hip hop, rock, funk, and pop, which keeps the show effortless, danceable, and yet interesting. Bartjan (BJ), who has shared stages with Benny Rodrigues, La Fuente, and Gregor Salto, always brings something slightly different than what you’re used to with his productions, especially because he drums live.

Several singles have already been released in the past year in anticipation of the release of Paarse Licht. The internet-critical Tussenuit, the boombap-like brag track In Je Face, the heartbroken space anthem Intergalactisch Verdriet, the existential rap track Y, and the soulful pop song Tirannie.
