Paardcafé: Bells of Home

Thursday 25 September 2025

Bells of Home, a well-known band from the 1980s!
In the early 1980s, they were a regular fixture on various stages in the Netherlands. With their blend of New Wave and Cowpunk, they opened for bands like Comsat Angels, Echo & the Bunnymen, and appeared in the semi-finals of the 1985 Grand Prix of the Netherlands. They regularly drove across the Netherlands in their famous Ford Transit diesel to perform live on stage. “Who can help me unload the Ampeg bass system?” After a few good times, the band eventually broke up, and guitarist Paul, singer Jan, and bassist Rob, along with drummer Edgar, continued with the band Younger Brothers. These musicians composed and performed incredibly beautiful songs.

What’s truly special is that these artists are now incredibly inspired to record a selection of superb songs. The songs were fantastically recorded and produced by Henk Koorn, singer-guitarist of Hallo Venray, at his Studio Sahara. The songs can be heard this year on Spotify, and the website www.bellsofhome.com offers more information, including details about the vinyl record that will also be produced in 2025! But on September 25th, the Bells of Home will be back live at the Paardcafé! Songs like “Give me back my Levi’s,” “Please come back,” and “Beast” will be played in two sets, with the stars happily chatting with all the fans during the intermission!

The band members are: Jan Heijnen (vocals), Paul van Horn (guitar & vocals), Rob de Winter (bass guitar), and Edgar Silva (drums, percussion & vocals).
