GRAUZONE PRESENTS: THE MONOCHROME SET

Friday 25 October 2019 2019

Many argue The Monochrome Set should have been a way bigger band than they became. With their strong beats, 1960s twist, brilliant guitar tunes and wry sense of humour they’re an obvious influence to many, many bands such as Franz Ferdinand, Blur, and a bit further back: The Smiths (Morrissey and Johnny Mar were one of their biggest fans). This fantastic New Wave/Post-punk group will take the stage at PAARD on Friday October 25th.

The Monochrome Set has known many bandmembers over the past decades but mainly frontman Bid and Andy Warren are stable factors to the group. The London new wave band finds its roots in the late 70’s and has been around the postpunkscene for over four decades. In 2018 they released their fourteenth and most recent album ‘Maisieworld’. Although they never really scored high up in the charts, they’ve influenced a lot welknown artists like The Smiths. The Monochrome Set has been the best kept secret of the postpunk movement. For new wave lovers this is a must-see.

“ They are a great band in their own right with innovative, influential, clever, funny, and just bloody good songs. Any band would be happy to have written a third of these songs. “
