The Amsterdam brass band Gallowstreet released its third album ‘Our Dear Metropolis’ on March 26, 2020. An instrumental statement about the home base, its inhabitants and the dynamics of the changing city. With Our Dear Metropolis the band poses the question “who owns the city?”. The band takes on the role of an instrumental storyteller in its new album and combines the sound it has brought to many festivals with trance, hip-hop and big-band swing to produce a headwind of explosive and positive sound.

From Galgenstraat to Amsterdam Noord, where the band has developed its roots on ‘the Strip’. With a self-built rehearsal room that they share with the colleagues and friends of Jungle by Night, Gallowstreet is imbued with a DIY mentality, averse to convention and full of innovation. With the albums “Battleplan” and “Hot Lava Sex Machine” Gallowstreet is a breath of fresh air within the brass band genre. The band gives a unique interpretation of what you can do with wind instruments.
